How a Missionary Countdown Map Works
A missionary countdown map turns the shape of a country, state or region into a grid of numbered squares. Start with day one, color one square each day, and the geography gradually fills as the mission moves forward.

One Numbered Square for Every Mission Day
The grid is generated around the actual duration. A 730-day mission creates exactly 730 cells; a 548-day mission creates 548. Exact Dates mode accounts for the real calendar rather than assuming every 18 or 24 months contains a fixed number of days.

Search the mission directory or choose from 97 country and 44 U.S. state outlines. Each outline is dynamically converted into the numbered grid—it is not a generic rectangle or a handwritten countdown template. These are geographic reference shapes, not official mission-boundary maps.

What is a missionary countdown map?
It is a visual mission countdown shaped like a country, state or region. Every numbered square represents one day of the mission, so a family can color in one square each day and watch the map gradually fill.
How many squares will my map have?
Exact Dates mode calculates the number of whole calendar days between the mission start and expected return dates, then creates exactly one numbered square for each day. The sequence always runs from 1 to the actual mission-day count without gaps.
Can I create an 18-month missionary countdown?
Yes. Choose 18 Months and enter the mission start date, or use Exact Dates when you know the expected return date. Exact Dates is recommended because the number of days in an 18-month calendar span varies.
Can I create a 24-month missionary countdown?
Yes. Choose 24 Months and the return date is calculated from the start date. You can also choose Exact Dates so the map matches the dates your family is actually using.
Can I print the countdown map at home?
Yes. Download the free print-ready PDF for a home printer, office printer or local print shop. The grid, numbers and geographic outline remain vector artwork in the PDF, so they stay crisp when printed.
Is the missionary countdown map free?
Yes. Generating the map and downloading the PDF or high-resolution PNG is free. There is no account, email form, payment or app installation required.
What countries and states can I use?
The generator currently includes 97 country outlines and 44 U.S. state outlines based on the supplied mission directory. Selecting a mission chooses the most specific available country or state shape; it does not claim to show official mission boundaries.
